Founded in 1984 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina we are a family owned company with a dedicated staff serving the greater Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area.

Construction Management

Our people are dedicated to providing the very best in the overall planning, coordination, and control of a project from beginning to completion. We do not lose sight of the fact that technology and management systems do not automatically make for a successful project, people do. Our people are dedicated and experienced and know construction. Many of our senior employees “grew up in the field” and bring that experience and knowledge to the table.

We are firmly committed to maintain­ing the safest job site for our employees, Owners, subcontrac­tors, customers, and the neighborhood community. Our goal is to be incident and injury free and that each worker goes home each day the same way that he or she started that morning. That is why we constantly strive to improve our safety and accident prevention through safety programs aimed at eliminating or minimizing risk. 

We have a full time Environmental Health and Safety Manager to train our workers, perform safety audits and to implement our job site safety plan.

Founder, Chairman

David F. Anna

Dave Anna is the Founder and Co-owner of Resolute Building Company. He holds a B.S. degree in Building Sciences and a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. His experience includes project management with various general contractors, which eventually led to the establishment of Resolute in 1984. Dave is the former president of the General Contractors Association of Durham and has been active in the Carolinas AGC. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, the Carolina Meadows Retirement Community, the Chapel Hill Museum, Habitat for Humanity, the Triangle United Way and the Chapel Hill Advisory Board of SunTrust Bank. He is also an active member of the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club. Dave is a Registered Architect in the state of New York, and an Architect Emeritus in the state of North Carolina.

Mark Anna

B.S. Construction Management from East Carolina University. Mark recently completed The Bartlett Project as an Assistant Project Manager. Mark has now transitioned to the Fairweather Project in Raleigh to lend his expertise in customizations as well as with the project management of condominium construction projects.

Mark assumed the role of President at Resolute in September 2024. With a renewed passion and commitment to our employees, customers, and subcontractors, he is excited to lead the company into a new era of success. Mark has established a reputation in the industry as a trustworthy, fair, and effective leader.

A graduate of both North Carolina State University and East Carolina University, Mark holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Textiles Brand Management & Marketing, and Construction Management. He is a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina and Virginia. Mark is also an instrument-rated private pilot and has a history of community involvement, including supporting Hurricane Helene relief efforts with Operation Airdrop. This strong academic foundation combined with extensive field experience has equipped Mark with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully lead Resolute to continued growth and success.

James has nearly 30 years of construction experience with a wide range of projects including multi-family, medical offices, hospitality, education, etc. Through his successful methods in managing construction projects, James is promoted to Vice President of Field Operations and continues to give his support and expertise to the company's project superintendents. James has his OSHA 30, CPR and equipment certification cards. QAQC Certified.

Ryan Plankenhorn

Ryan is a graduate of the University of Florida – Gainesville and brings 15 years of construction experience to the Resolute Team. From foreman to superintendent to estimator and onto director of preconstruction services, Ryan has extensive experience in both the negotiated and hard bid markets as well as being adept at cultivating relationships with local subcontractors. He is skilled at coordinating with architects, engineers and owners through creative design and value engineering, to bring budget-challenged projects to fruition, as well as preparing design development estimates, GMP and lump sum pricing.

B.A. Journalism, UNC Chapel Hill. Bryan joined Resolute in 2014 as Assistant Project Manager. He earned his Master’s in Construction Management from East Carolina University. After several years experiencing the various aspects of project management firsthand in the field, Bryan assumed responsibilities of Marketing Manager in 2018. In 2019 he earned his North Carolina General Contractors License.
